Currently in its eighth year (1089 days since John Morphy took over as Landlord), this
micropub is located in the main shopping area of Westgate,
close to both Town Centre Bus Stops and the Railway Station
(akin to Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station, The Bake & Alehouse is somewhat hidden - this time, unlike the train to Hogwarts, being in a 'secret' passage, between Coral's Bookmakers & The Carlton Cinema)
The Bake & Alehouse offers a selection of alcoholic beverages. What's on offer varies, but usually includes:
A selection on the whole, of between five and eight, different Real Ales -
To date, the Bake & Alehouse has had over 726 different
brews available (or on the stillage, waiting to be served), from over 147 different breweries On the 713 where we have recorded the alcohol level, this has been from 2.90% to 7.00%
A selection of Ciders - both Apple & other fruit (such as Mango & Rhubarb)
Red, White & Rosé wines
Gin - with Fever Tree, or Schweppes, tonic
Other alcoholic beverages (some seasonal, some one-off)
Non-alcoholic drinks, such as
Coffee, Tea, Coke, Lemonade and 'J2O' - not forgetting FREE Squash for the Children
On top of
this range of tipples and a replenishing selection of food (Kettle Crisps, Peanuts, Cheese, Pork Scratchings, & other pub snacks), there is also a local area notice board, a newspaper, a range of Books (many CAMRA, but not all), a few pub-games and, perhaps most importantly, some Dog Treats.
Westgate-on-Sea is a village on the Isle-of-Thanet in Kent, situated on the seaside, it is between Margate & Birchington (just a few miles from Ramsgate and under 15 miles from Canterbury).
Real Ales are offered from a range of breweries and, to date, The Bake & Alehouse has supplied beers from over 147 breweries/micro-breweries, including breweries on the Isle-of-Thanet, such as
