Currently in its eighth year (2 years, 10 months & 19 days since John Morphy took over as Landlord), this
Micro-Pub is located in the main shopping area of Westgate,
close to both Town Centre Bus Stops and the Railway Station
(The Bake and Alehouse can be hard to find, being located in a 'secret' passageway, between Coral's Bookmakers & The Carlton Cinema)
The Bake and Alehouse offers a selection of alcoholic beverages. What's on offer varies, but usually includes:
A selection on the whole, of between five and eight, different Real Ales -
To date, the Bake & Alehouse has had over 720 different
beers available (or on the stillage, waiting to be served), from over 146 different breweries For the 707 where we have recorded the alcoholic strength, this has varied from 2.90% to 7.00%
A selection of Ciders - both Apple & other fruit (such as Rhubarb & Mango)
Red, White & Rosé wines
Gin - with Fever Tree, or Schweppes, tonic
Other alcoholic beverages (some seasonal, some one-off)
Non-alcoholic drinks, such as
Coffee, Tea, Coke, Lemonade and 'J2O' - not forgetting FREE Squash for the Children
On top of
the Bake's plethora of libations and a few morsels of food (Cheese, Hand Raised Pork Pies, Peanuts, Kettle Crisps, & other pub snacks), there is also a range of Books (many CAMRA, but not all), a local area notice board, a newspaper, a few pub-games and, perhaps most importantly, some Dog Treats.
Westgate-on-Sea is a village on the Isle-of-Thanet in Kent, situated on the seaside, it is between Margate & Birchington (just a few miles from Ramsgate and under 15 miles from Canterbury).
Real Ales are offered from a range of breweries and, to date, The Bake & Alehouse has supplied beers from over 146 breweries/micro-breweries, including breweries on the Isle-of-Thanet, such as
4 Candles (brewers of 6 different ales, provided up to now, at the Bake & Alehouse), Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) (34 ales) and Wantsum Brewery (39 ales).
